Billy (Bill) Wayne Church was born on December 14, 1949, on a farm in Derby, Iowa, the youngest of five children born to Ernest and Nadine Church. The family moved to a farm near Oklee, Minnesota when Bill was in high school. There he met the love of his life, Jo Bergeron. They married on September 12, 1969. He and his family settled in Tolono, Illinois. Bill always looked for the “good” in people and always found it. Jo said “Bill never met a person he didn't like.
Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army and in the Illinois National Guard. He loved the open road and traveled this great country as a big rig truck driver; logging twenty years and millions of miles with Schneider Trucking Company. Bill Church was a good, faithful, humble, and hardworking man. Bill is survived by his wife, Jo Church; sons, Timothy and James Church; grandchildren, Kacie and Kayn Church; his sisters and brothers-in-law Connie and Paul Prough, Nancy and Bob McGee, and Mary and Craig Jefferies; many nieces and nephews and his Bergeron brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sisters, his son Marc and his brother Loren Church.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Bill Church will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tolono, Illinois with Father Patrick M. Riordan officiating. Freese Funeral Home, Tolono is assisting with arrangements.
