Florence Hanson, 96 and one month, of Bagley, died on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Cornerstone Memory Care in Bagley, Minnesota.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, Minnesota with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at United Lutheran Cemetery in Berner, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

Florence was born on January 4, 1927,  at home in Gonvick, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Offerdahl) Erie. She attended and was Confirmed at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick. She attended Gonvick School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1945. After graduating, she would take the train back and forth from Gonvick to Bemidji for Business College. She would come home most weekends. The train fare at that time was 25 cents one way! Albert Kaiser offered her a job at the First National Bank of Bagley. During this time she married Forrest D. Hanson on June 26, 1948 at Samhold Lutheran Church. The newlyweds moved to Oakland, CA where she worked at the Bank of America in San Francisco, CA. One year later they were back in Bagley and she worked at the Social Service Office until 1957. In 1966, Florence returned to work at the First National Bank in Bagley, where she worked up until her retirement in 1988.

Florence and Forrest enjoyed traveling in their Class C Motor Home. Highlights for them were bringing their granddaughter, Carrie Ann, along with them on their travels, to almost all the “Polka Fests” and “We Fests” though out Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Canada.

Florence was saddened when Forrest passed in 1994. Florence thrived on schedules. So when her great-grand children started coming along, it got to be a “Regular Occurrence”, every Saturday morning to meet with Carrie and ALL of her growing family at the local café.

Florence is survived by her sons, Ronald F. (Adrienne) Hanson of Gully and Bruce A. (Carol) Hanson of Bagley; granddaughter, Carrie A. (Bradley) Binder; great grandchildren, Stephen, Maci, Kate, Haylee, and Brayden Binder; sisers, Margaret (Clyde) Hare of Chickasha, OK, Beverly (Duane) Ambuhl of Brainerd, MN, Donna Schwab of New Brighton, MN, and Janet (Glenn) Osmonson of Anoka, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest D. Hanson; her parents, Oscar and Anna (Offerdahl) Erie; her sisters, Doris Sather and Carol Tollefson; brothers, Harvey Erie and infant brother, Orvin Erie; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Erie, Clarice Campbell, Francis Hanson, and Ramona Hanson; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Sather, Ralph Schwab, Merrill Campbell, Chester Hanson, and Kenneth Hanson.
