Services for Florence Berg

Florence Bernice (Ringstad) Berg An angel came to Florence and told her that a place had been prepared for her in heaven. Florence went quietly with that angel and has passed through the gates of Heaven to spend eternity with those that have gone before her. She passed from this life on May 27, 2017, at the age of 93, in Longview, Washington.
Her life started just south east of Clearbrook, MN, on December 3, 1923. She was the fifth of eight children born to Mable and Alfred Ringstad. Most of her life was spent in the Gully area. She went to school in the same Gully school, that all of her children attended, later in her life.
While living in Gully, she met the man that she would marry, Floyd John Berg. A romance happened and they were married on November 10, 1943. To this union three children were born. Darlene Marie, Richard Dean and Carol Diane. Their life was spent together on the farm about a mile south of Gully. They raised milk cows and chickens and hay and a lot of small grains and a lot of cats and dogs. Florence had hobbies and they consisted of raising a family, no matter if they were family or not. Everyone was welcome in our home. She enjoyed cooking for the family and anyone who happened to be there at meal time. She enjoyed sewing and used an old Singer treddle machine for a long time and she could make that old machine fly. Floyd was forced off the farm due to his arthritis and they moved to the house of Mable and Alfred Ringstad in Gully. They lived there until Floyd’s death in 1996. A few years later, Florence moved to Oregon to be near Carol.
Florence is survived by one brother Roy Ringstad of Lake Havasu, Arizona. her son Richard and wife Shirley of Burke, South Dakota, her youngest daughter Carol and Bruce Johnstun of Clatskanie, Oregon, 7 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves an extended family of nieces and nephews and their families and friends.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents Mable and Alfred Ringstad, her husband Floyd, her daughter Darlene and her husband Larry Johnson and one grandson David John Vigoren. Six of her siblings and 7 of their spouses.
Florence will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Her singing voice and yodeling could be heard by neighbors a half a mile away, when the wind was right.
We all await our turn to meet her again on the other side of the gates.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lund Lutheran Church and Burial will be in the Lund Lutheran Cemetery in Gully.
