Services for Fern Eskeli

Fern Eskeli, 90, died peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. 

Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Plummer, Minnesota with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating.  Burial will be immediately following the service at the “Finnish Cemetery”.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Casket Bearers are Steve Eskeli, David Eskeli, Wesley Eskeli, Bruce Eskeli, Ryan Thompson. All are welcome back at the church following the burial for a luncheon.

Fern was born on March 8, 1929 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Oliver and Florence Hoff.  Her parents moved to Plummer, Minnesota where she attended school and graduated from Pershing High School. 

She met her future husband (Martin) there and was married shortly after her graduation on July 16, 1947.  They moved to Chicago where they raised two sons, (Randy and Craig). 

Fern never worked full-time outside of her home.  She considered taking care of her husband, two sons and her home a full-time job, which she enjoyed.

Fern and Martin moved back to Plummer, Minnesota after Martin retired in September, 1987.  She was a member of the “Red Hats” and on several committees.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Eskeli, her son, Craig Eskeli, her parents Oliver and Florence Hoff and her sister, Joyce Schneeweis.

She is survived by her son: Randy (Diana) Eskeli, daughter-in-Law:  Darlynne Eskeli, grandson: Chad (Kimberly) Eskeli, granddaughter: Gina (Timothy) Buelow, great-grandchildren:  Connor Eskeli, Cassandra Eskeli, Zoe Buelow, Andrew Buelow.
