Services for Evelyn Marie Hanson

Evelyn Marie Hanson, 92, of Clearbrook, MN, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Sanford Bagley Medical Center in Bagley, MN. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN with Reverend Bob Kirchman officiating. A visitation will be on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Cease Family Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 with a Prayer Service at 7:00. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Silver Creek Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN.

Evelyn was born November 9, 1923 in Equality Township near Oklee to Edward and Margit (Nereson) Erickson, the youngest of six sisters. Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church North of Oklee. She graduated from Oklee High School and married Walter Hanson in Oklee on July 2, 1946. She held several jobs over the years, including being a telephone switchboard operator in Oklee, and working as a nursing assistant and laundress/ housekeeping at Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook for over 40 years. 

Evelyn enjoyed playing guitar and singing. She was known for her delicious homemade buns; she had her own special recipe. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Lyle (Vicki) Hanson of Clearbrook, MN; her grandchildren, Heather (Troy) Sawyer of Albertville, MN, Alison (Chad) Boutet of Monticello, MN, and Lindsey (Christopher) Lloyd of Ramsey, MN; and her great grandchildren, Ben and Maddy Sawyer; Blair and Colton Boutet; and Jasmine, Christian and Olivia Lloyd. Walter’s sister, Louella Arverson; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margit Erickson; and her husband, Walter Hanson; her sisters, Annie, Selma, Hannah, Laura, Caroline, and Laura; and Walter’s siblings, Gertrude, Sanna, and Harry.
