Eva Wasson, 65, formerly of Leonard, MN, died in Little Rock, Arkansas, on October 11, 2022, from congestive heart failure.
Eva’s life will be celebrated in a memorial service at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, on July 23, 1957, to Barbara (Olson) and Eugene Torgerson, Eva grew up in Clover Township. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1975 and from Northland Community and Technical College with a degree in Nursing in 1987. She married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Wasson on Valentine’s Day, 1990.
The oldest of seven, Eva had early opportunities to develop the independence and sense of responsibility that marked her life. When she was six years old, she walked alone a quarter of a mile through the woods in the winter dark to catch the school bus. As she grew older and the family grew larger, so too did her many caretaking responsibilities.
Eva was touched by the needs of others, especially children, and their care was the work of her life. She served as a school nurse at the Clearbrook Public School and was a foster parent to many children. Later, she provided one-on-one care to children with profound special needs. Until her health failed, Eva repeatedly gave her heart to the children for whom she cared.
Eva loved beauty and being outside in it. She loved living in beautiful places like Clover Township and later the Arkansas Ozarks, and riding motorcycles with Bob on scenic mountain roads. She also loved creating beautiful spaces, working with Bob—her best friend and inseparable companion—to design and build lovely homes with clean landscapes full of flowers, as they were doing together until just before she died.
When she recently retired, Eva was looking forward to spending many more years with her family, whom she deeply loved. Eva is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Aimee Jarnot, and grandchildren, Colin and Raina. She also is survived by her mother Barbara Torgerson, stepmother Jo Torgerson, and her siblings, Jim (Morgan) Torgerson, Carol (Chuck) Horsager, Glenda (Ross) Olson, Larry (Lana) Torgerson, Lois Torgerson, and Claire Torgerson, as well as many other relatives and friends. She already is greatly missed.
Eva was proceeded in death by her father, Eugene Torgerson, and grandparents, John and Phyllis Olson, and Walter and Selma Torgerson.
