Services for Ethel C. Fisher

Ethel C. Fisher, 88, of Long Prairie, MN, formerly of Clearbrook, MN, died on Friday, March 18, 2016 at CentraCare Health in Long Prairie, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 28, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Seljord Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with arrangements.

Ethel was born June 29, 1927 in Clearbrook, MN, the daughter of Arvid and Hilda (Bjerke) Engberg. She was united in marriage to Floyd Fisher in Bagley, MN on October 31, 1956. They moved to Wright County, MN in 1959.  Floyd worked for Johnson Brothers Corporation of Litchfield for 28 years. Then in 1974, they bought Ethel’s father’s home in Clearbrook and moved back. They also purchased a cabin on Burditt Lake in Ontario, Canada and would go there as much as they could in the summertime. After Floyd passed in 2001, Ethel moved into an apartment in town in Clearbrook where she could keep busy visiting her friends, volunteering at the nursing home, senior center, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Ethel was an amazing mother and she never said an unkind word about anyone.   Ethel was a favorite among staff members at her living facility in Osakis because of her kind and considerate nature.  She was always up for an adventure.  As Ethel slowed down in recent years, she enjoyed time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, as well as, sitting on the deck watching the birds. She always made sure the bird feeders were full.  Ethel had a good sense of humor. Ethel would get the giggles with her great grandkids, which made for special memories.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Colleen) Fisher; her daughter, Randi (Ernesto) Valencia; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; her sister, Arlene Hoie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Fisher; her parents, Arvid and Hilda Engberg; her sister, Florence; and her brothers, Mike and Glenn.
