Services for Eris Angela Super (Bruggeman)

Eris Angela Super (Bruggeman), age 94, of Mentor, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, surrounded by family at The Glenn Minnetonka, in Minnetonka, MN, where she had lived since September of 2021.
Eris was born in Oklee, MN, on April 29, 1927, the eldest child of Herman and DeNeige (Turgeon) Bruggeman. She was raised in Oklee with siblings Robert, JoAnn & Donald.
From a young age, Eris was an avid church organist, and she enjoyed working at the Oklee Movie Theater & Cafe. She graduated from Oklee High School in 1945 as Valedictorian.
After attending Teacher’s College in Red Lake Falls, MN, she taught in a one room schoolhouse, in Huot, MN, and later as a substitute teacher at Mentor Public Schools. She also worked in Grand Forks, ND, in Medical Records before she was married.
Jerry Super, originally from Flensburg, MN, was the man who swept her off her feet at a local dance! They were happily married on January 29, 1949, in Oklee with 30 below temperatures!  After a long honeymoon to California by train, they made their home in Mentor. Jerry was an Agent/Telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad.
In 1954, they moved to their home on Maple Lake, Mentor, where the Super family lived for 62 years. They were loving parents to sons: Thomas, Robert, David, and daughter, Cathy.
In Mentor, Eris was an organist for many years at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, she also sang in the choir and played piano. Eris was active in local and church auxiliaries, knitter’s club, card club, home keeping and volunteered at school. She loved music, baking, knitting and entertaining family and friends.
Eris had her real estate license, working as a Realtor with Jerry selling lake property with Super Realty. She also worked as a clerk in the Mentor Post Office in the 70’s & 80’s.
In her home, you could find Eris listening to wonderful music as she ironed, baked bread, cookies and bars or worked on her many crafts. She and her dear cousin, Bernie Otten, loved collecting antique dishes and furniture, restoring them to create treasures to use in her home or give to others. Eris loved to create a beautiful home environment for her family and others to enjoy. She decorated for every season and Jerry helped her with his love of nature by picking wild crocuses, pussy willows, May flowers and cattails every year.
Eris and Jerry had countless hours of playing cards and dancing and they traveled extensively and enjoyed learning about other places in the world, sharing their experiences and meeting new friends. They also loved their many winters in Arizona with friends, family and cousins.
Over the years, Eris and Jerry opened their home to countless guests at the lake. As family, we were blessed to learn the gift of hospitality by their example. They were married 49-1/2 years before Jerry, her true love, died in 1998.
Eris’ greatest joy was her family and faith. Her days were filled with creating her home, loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was having them all together especially for Christmases at Maple Lake, family meals, basketball games, music concerts, plays or any of their special events.
