Services for Edwin “Ed” Farnworth

Edwin “Ed” Farnworth, age 84, of Tennessee and formerly of Clearbrook, MN, and Clearwater County Cattleman, passed away on Monday, September 28th. There will be no services scheduled at this time. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Local assistance was with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston.
Ed was born on September 18, 1931 in Gooding, Idaho to Chris and Minda Farnworth. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1952. In his twenties, he worked as a civilian for the United States Navy and owned a small business. In the 1960’s he returned to his family roots in Shoshone, Idaho to provide his three children with a better way of life in the country. In 1973, Ed moved from Idaho to Minnesota and established a very successful cattle ranch south of Clearbrook. He was well known in the area for his independent and outspoken nature as well as his knowledge of the cattle industry. If Ed had a day off, he would more likely go fix a fence than watch a movie.
He loved being outdoors, a passion that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Ed was a member of the Minnesota Cattleman’s Association. He moved to Tennessee in 1986 where he continued to raise cattle until the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Violet Farnworth. Violet continues to live in Red Boiling Springs, TN. He is also survived by a son, Russell (Linda) Farnworth (Linda) of Kimberly, ID; a daughter, RoseMary (Rick) Forsberg of Gully, MN; step-son, Jeff Goad of Minnesota; step daughter, Leslie Bergdorff of Tennessee; three grandsons, Cory Farnworth, Matthew Farnworth, and Gus Farnworth; granddaughter, Justice Farnworth and many other grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Luff of Idaho.
