services for Edna J. Dukek
Edna J. Dukek, 97, of Bagley, MN, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Bagley, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at the Bagley City Cemetery in. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born on June 28, 1921 in Clearbrook, Minnesota, the daughter of Emil and Inga (Haugen) Erickson. She married Roy Dukek on September, 9, 1939 in Clearbrook, MN. They moved to Illinois for four years before returning up North to Bagley. Over the years she worked at Nelson Eggs, as a cook for Pine Ridge, and retired from working at Kenny’s Western store. Her favorite job was being a mother, and she continued to take care of her son Donald until she was 90. Edna accepted the Lord as her savior in 1972. She remained very involved with her faith and as a member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church. She also loved being a member of her local Jolly Janes group. Edna was an avid cake baker, making almost every of her grandchildren’s wedding cakes. She was a great cook and loved to sew and garden. She and Roy always had a great time camping and fishing. Edna rarely passed up a game of pinochle. She was very hospitable, always inviting people for coffee or a meal. Her door was always open. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be very missed.
She is survived by her children, Donald Dukek, Richard (Rose) Dukek, Larry (Judy) Dukek, Phyllis (Dennis) Bromaghin, Kathryn (Jon) Maki, and Randy (Lori) Dukek; 19 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; almost 40 great great grandchildren; her siblings, Benny Erickson and Irene Green; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Inga Erickson; her husband, Roy; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Dukek; her great grandchildren, Devin Hagen and Logan Dukek; and her siblings, Ernest, Edvan, Tommy, Leonard, Melvin, Elmer, and Clarence Erickson and Myrtle Eastwood and Ida Haney.
