Services for Dylan James Alfred Wang

Dylan James Alfred Wang, the youngest son of Ronald and Cheryl (Helgaas) Wang was born in Fosston, MN, on February 23, 1992.  He was raised in the Winger community and attended Win-E-Mac School. Throughout his school years, Dylan was active in baseball, basketball and football.  He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger where he was baptized and confirmed.  Following his high school graduation with the class of 2010, Dylan held several jobs around the area.  He most enjoyed his time working with his brother, Jarrid, building pole sheds.  He spent countless hours working with his dad on various projects as well.  Dylan was a natural mechanic and was always tinkering on and fixing a car or two.  He was the kind of guy who could tear nearly anything apart and put it back together again.  His hands were always dirty and his heart was always full!  Dylan was up for any challenge and never shied away from a job, especially if it could help someone in need.  Just recently, Dylan and his nephew, Blake, built Blake’s custom deer stand, which was truly a sight to be seen.  Dylan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and nearly anything outside.  He also had a need for speed and loved Baja racing.  If Dylan was around you never knew what would happen as he was the king of pranks and never ceased joking around.  Dylan constantly had a mischievous smirk and was usually up to something…yet at the same time had a heart of gold.  He always looked for the best in others and reached out with a helping hand.  He cherished his nieces and nephews and was looking forward to welcoming his newest niece very soon.

Dylan also fought an addiction to drugs, which he had recently accepted treatment in hopes to recover.  Unfortunately, help didn’t reach him soon enough and suddenly on Saturday, June 10, 2017, he lost his battle to drugs at the tender age of 25. Through all of this sadness, Dylan's family hopes that this tragedy will encourage other families struggling with addiction to love strongly, support endlessly, and seek the help that is so desperately needed.  Dylan's life and the hearts he touched will forever be remembered.

Dylan is survived by his parents, Ron and Cheryl Wang of Winger; two brothers, James (Roxanne) Peterson of Isanti, MN, and Jarrid (Megan) Wang of Fosston; two sisters, Jennifer (Chris) Wang of Winger and Sheila (Luke) Kramer of Red Lake Falls, MN; his nieces and nephews: Jocylyn, James Jr., Justin, Jayden, Jordan, Hannah, Kallie, Laila, Christopher, Blake, and Aubrey; “special neice” Edith Gieske; his grandmother, Edna Helgaas of Winger; aunts and uncles: Jerry Wang, Pam Wang, Eileen (Terry) Cook, and Rodney (Katie) Helgaas; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Elsie Wang and Ervin Helgaas; aunts and uncles: Randy Helgaas, Ralph & Donna Klein, Kathy Perry, Stanley & Barbara Wang, Roger Wang, Lynn Wang, and Vernon Wang; a nephew, Steven, and a niece, Jamie.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger.  Visitation was held Friday, June 16th from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. also at Calvary Church.  Burial took place in the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Winger.
