IN LOVING MEMORY
Donna Mae Asselin, age 81, passed away on Wednesday March 20, 2024 at home in Covina CA with family at her bedside.
She was born Donna Mae Miller at the Ada, Minnesota hospital on May 31, 1942. She attended 1st through 8th grades in the Borup Minnesota school and graduated from Mount Saint Benedict Academy in Crookston, Minnesota.
She was united in marriage to James (Jim) Asselin on June 4, 1966 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ada, MN. In August of that same year, they moved to Covina in Southern California where Jim taught English for 36 years and Donna worked in office management positions at Orrin Construction and Farmers Insurance offices. She retired in 2004, but for forty plus years she was the driving force and backbone of the family tax practice since 1970.
She enjoyed traveling via cruise ships and land tours. BlackJack and pinochle she enjoyed as well as spending time with family and friends when she always served her favorite dishes. She always had a special interest in her grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her husband, Jim, her daughter Lynette (Brian) Martin of Escondido CA and her son Gregory (Megan) Asselin of Covina, CA. Also surviving are her grandchildren – Alexandra (Ally) Martin, Joshua (Josh) Martin, Abigail (Abby) Asselin, and Nathaniel (Nathan) Asselin and her brother Ed (Darlys) Miller of Detroit Lakes, MN. And many nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Alice Miller, her sisters Margaret Mary & Evelyn Krogen and four brothers- John, Adolph, Jerome, and Jim Miller.
