Services for Delores Ann (Habedank) Aakre

Delores Ann (Habedank) Aakre of Clearbrook, MN, was born in Madison, Wisconsin on April 13th, 1938 to Albert and Elsie (Eggers) Habedank. On May 15th, 1938 she was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism. Delores confessed her baptismal faith in the rite of Confirmation on June 1st, 1952. She was united in holy marriage to Charles Aakre on June 13th, 1959. God blessed their marriage with the gift of six children.

Dee expressed her devotion to the Lord through many labors of love. She worked side by side with her husband milking cows and driving her favorite John Deere model “G” tractor while sporting her matching John Deere hat. She also tended two large vegetable gardens, canned and preserved fruits and vegetables, sewed many outfits for her children, taught Sunday School and served on the Ladies Aid at Redeemer Lutheran Church and still found time to make the best homemade pizza.

Dee delighted in bird watching. She would refer to her favorite bird book and take record of the birds and the dates she spotted them. Her love of gardening, which was passed down from her mother, was also passed down to her children. Gardening was her time with the Lord and gave her refreshment after her daily chores. Each year her enjoyment was renewed as she would savor each type of flower in full bloom.

Dee was a prayer warrior. She faithfully brought the trials and sorrows of her family and friends to the Lord. Dee loved chatting with old friends and new friends alike. Her sense of humor and quick wit brought many smiles and laughs as she would tease, always with a twinkle in her eye!

On November 26, 2020, Dee fell asleep in the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was 82 years old when she was welcomed into the Promised Land. ”Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” (Psalm 116:15)

She is survived by her husband, Charles; her children: Deborah (Steven) King; David (Jennifer) Aakre; Charles Aakre Jr.; Colleen (Tod) Duffy; Daniel (Brianna) Aakre; and Denise (David) Reimink; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lillian; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Albert Jr. and Roland; sister-in-law, Marlene; and great grandson, Dominic.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private visitation for immediate family members will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bagley on Wednesday, December 16th at 11:00 a.m. Funeral service and graveside committal service will be held later in the spring. Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bagley or The Lutheran Hour Ministries.
