David Engebretson, 69, of Clearbrook, Minnesota died on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Sanford Bagley Medical Center.
uneral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Reverend Robert Kirchman officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley with a family service at 6:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Silver Creek Cemetery at Clearbrook, MN.
David Olaf Engebretson was born on June 7, 1949 in Bagley, MN, the son of the late Olaf and Gerda (Thompson) Engebretson. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN. He graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1967. After high school he attended Bemidji State University, graduating in 1971 with a degree in industrial arts. In the summers and on vacations he worked for Lakehead Pipeline and with his dad on their family farm east of Clearbrook. After graduation, Dave worked for Minnesota Pipeline Company in Cottage Grove, MN, then transferred to the Clearbrook station, while continuing to farm. Dave later worked as a Delivery Operator for Portal Pipeline, which became Enbridge Pipeline. After retiring from the Pipeline, Dave worked on the farm full time, where he remained until his death.
Dave married Judi (Shellum) on October 18, 1986. They lived together on the farm in Clearbrook and enjoyed attending church on Sundays, watching their grandchildren in their many sports and activities, and being in the company of friends and family. Dave was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Clearbrook, and an active member of the Leon Town Board and Clearbrook Elevator Board. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and trapping, but he devoted much of his time to tending to the farm, which was always his favorite pastime. He raised prize-winning cattle on his farm, Ruffy Brook Simmentals and was a member of the American Simmental Association.
Dave is survived by his wife Judi, daughter Jenny (Brian) Bakke, son Shawn (Niki) Groshong, brother Darrell (Nancy) Engebretson, sister Mary (Larry) Swenson, grandchildren Ashley (Jacob) Boomgaarden, Jeremy Groshong, Tristan Bakke, and Damen Bakke, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Gerda Engebretson, and his grandparents.
