Services for Darryl Grimm

Darryl Grimm, 70, Brooks, MN, passed away on Thursday March 15, 2018 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
 
Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 3:00 PM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN with Father Adam Hamness Officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.
 
Darryl Lloyd George Grimm was born June 25, 1947 near Brooks, MN son of Orville and Marie (Magoon) Grimm. He was raised there and attended rural school. Darryl worked at the Jenson Mink ranch in Oklee for a few years. 
 
On March 23, 1968 he was united in marriage to Dolores Laniel at McIntosh, MN. To this union 2 children were born Darrin and Denise. In 1970 they moved to Lambert Township. Darryl worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, Detroiter Mobile Home and Schmitz Construction in Red Lake Falls. His best friend Kenny Parsley talked him into going to work for Thorson Construction in Bemidji, MN where he worked for 35 years retiring in 2010. He worked for CHS in Oklee until his R.A. started bothering him.
 
He enjoyed life, ice fishing and deer hunting were his passion. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter Maria play sports. In the earlier years he couldn’t wait for snow and enjoyed snow catting. He played 3 different games of solitaire every morning until he won, going through many decks of cards.
 
Darryl is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years Dolores of Brooks, MN; children Darrin (Heidi) Grimm of Warroad, MN and Denise (Darby) Zentner of Warroad, MN; grandchildren Maria Zentner, Jessica (Chris) Hruby, Amanda (Zach) Thompson, Whitney Quast, Dillan (Taylor) Moser; great-grandchildren Brody and Maddilyn Hruby, Otis and Iris Thompson, Brinley and Rowan Quast and Easton Moser: sisters Ruby (Irvin) Christianson of Trail, MN and Pearl Johnson of McIntosh, MN; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers LeRoy, Duane, Douglas and Curtis, sisters Janis Turner and Eileen Christianson and two nephews.
