Services for Darlene Margret Petterson
Darlene Margret Petterson, 73, of Longville, MN, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at her
residence in Longville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the
funeral home. Interment will be at the United Lutheran Cemetery in Berner, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Darlene was born September 28, 1944 in Bagley, Minnesota, the daughter Palmer and Cora Petterson. Darlene was the 4th of the 5 children in the family.
She was baptized and confirmed at the United Lutheran Church of Berner, MN. She attended elementary school in Gonvick, MN and graduated from the Gonvick High School in 1962. After graduating from high school, she went to Minneapolis with her friend Mary Sather (Lundmark) and they were employed by the Sears Store on Lake Street. While in Minneapolis, she met and married Alan Pickwell and they had two beautiful girls, Heidi and Shannon. She was later employed by Prudential Insurance for many years, and for the last six years of her employment worked in Atlanta, Georgia. She retired moving back to Minneapolis and then to Longville, MN.
While in Longville, she served on the city council and the library board. Darlene mostly enjoyed sitting and visiting with her family, going out to eat, and laughing. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and going to the Northern Lights Casino.
She is survived by her two daughters, Heidi (Jim) Scott of St. Michael, MN and Shannon (Kirk) Hoover of Rogers, MN; her grandchildren- Hali, Alyssa, Katie, Kent, and Sabrina; her great grandchildren, Aksel and Magnus; her siblings, Vernon (Rita) Petterson of AZ, Duane (Sheryl) Petterson of Clearbrook, Bonnie (Pat) Ward of Shevlin, and Butch (Darlene) Peterson of Detroit Lakes; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and Cora Petterson.
