Services for Daniel Harvey Berg

Daniel Harvey Berg of Clearbrook, MN, passed away at Autumn Hills Assisted Living Facility in Bemidji, MN, on December 30, 2020, at the age of 73.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oswald Berg and Bernice (Bardwell) Berg.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Smith) Berg, his four children Darren (Denise) Madsen, Dane (Wendy) Madsen, Elizabeth (Tracy) Berg, and Rachel (Brent) Vesta as well as his beloved grandchildren Raya, Ahna, Jordyn, Raelyn, Benjamin, Emily, and Aliesha and his eight siblings, Jean (Gary) Bergstrom, Joy Parker, Mary (Bill) Elsholtz, Bernie (Kathy) Berg, John (Connie) Berg, Orvie (Dianne) Berg, Trygvie Berg, and Karen (Bill) Klosso.

He was born in the family farmhouse outside of Clearbrook in the summer of 1947, July 15. The second to youngest of his eight siblings, he was the baby of the family until his younger sister Karen came along. He remained there farming with his parents after finishing high school in Clearbrook. He also served in the Army National Guard. He met Linda at the Clover Chapel in 1979. They were married shortly thereafter on March 15, 1980, and raised their own family on the farm as well. There are fond memories of mending the fences and bottling calves, rock picking adventures in thunderstorms, and building snow tunnels after winter plowing. He knew his cattle by name, and took great care with raking and baling the crops every summer. A man of few words, he said much with his quick smiles. He will be dearly missed.

Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Daniel’s memorial gathering for the family will be planned for the summer of 2021.
