Services for Colleen Knoop
Colleen Knoop, age 47, of Frazee, MN, peacefully passed away on December 15, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Colleen Lynn (Bakke) Knoop was born on May 30th, 1973, in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Mervin and Lynette Bakke. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN. She was a 1991 graduate of Clearbrook-Gonvick Schools. Colleen attended Bemidji State University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Science Education. After college, Colleen taught kindergarten for 19 years in Red Lake, Callaway and Detroit Lakes Schools. Her passion in life was raising her two wonderful children and inspiring her kindergarten students.
Colleen was united in marriage to Michael Knoop on July 29, 2000. They have two beautiful children, William, age 18, and Hanna, age 15. They made their home in Frazee, MN.
Colleen and her family enjoyed lake life living, traveling and being with friends and family. She especially enjoyed watching her children’s sporting events, shopping and going for long walks with Gus the family dog.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, children William and Hanna, her parents Mervin and Lynette Bakke of Gonvick, MN. Sister, Cheryl (Tom) Stenzel of Gonvick, MN and brother Brian (Jenny) Bakke of Clearbrook, MN. Father and Mother in-law, Dave and Shirley Knoop of Willmar, MN. Sister in-law, Andrea (Troy) Thomsen of Eden Prairie, MN. Nieces and nephews, Madison, Danae, Tristan, Damen, Rheya and Payton.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Emma Satran and Melvin and Helen Bakke.
Public visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Private family service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. On Monday, December 21, 2020, at 11:00am with Pastor Jillene Gallatin officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, MN immediately following the service. Friends are welcome.
