Services for Charles Halvorson
Charles Halvorson, 68, of Plummer, MN passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee, MN with Reverend Linda Molitor Officiating. Burial will be held at Ness Cemetery near Madison, MN at 5:30 PM.
Visitation will be held Friday, 5-8 PM with a Prayer service at 7:00 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also on Saturday one hour prior to the service at Salem Lutheran Church.
Charles Walter Halvorson was born January 31, 1951 in Dawson, MN son of Walter and Pearl (Moore) Halvorson. He was raised on a farm near Madison, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison, MN. Charles attended school in Madison.
On July 13, 1974 he was united in marriage to Betty Arneson at Garfield Lutheran Church near Madison, MN. To this union three sons were born Chad, Ryan and Eric. They made their home near Madison where they raised their family and farmed. They purchased a farm in Northwest Minnesota near Plummer in 1983. Charles farmed all of his life and the last 17 years he was employed as a maintenance supervisor at the Seven Clans Casino of Thief River Falls, MN.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he served on the
council.
Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and teaching others the sport. He was a lifelong WWE wrestling fan and would watch with whomever would spend the time. He was always building, fixing, repurposing and trying new things. He enjoyed traveling to Niagara Falls, NY, Jamaica, Texas, Banff, Canada, Alaska, the Redwood Forest, CA, Panama Canal cruise and Washington DC. He would spend hours visiting and shaking dice in Plummer. Most of all he loved the time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Betty of Plummer, sons Chad (Bethann) Halvorson of St. Joseph, MN, Ryan (Mary) Halvorson of Woodbury, MN, and Eric (special friend Kari Kahlstorf) Halvorson of Crookston, MN; grandchildren Kyle, Jenna, Gavin, Alexis, Cole, Caiden, Nicholas, Pyper; sister-in-law Sherri Halvorson of Byers, CO; aunt Violet Denelsbeck of Waconia, MN; brothers-in-law Marvin and Alt Arneson and sister-in-law Ardis (Rich) Groninga, cousin Adeline (John) Cremer, cherished friends Brian and Cheryl Wellman, Lyle and Jean Turtle and families, Chase Stockwell; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger Halvorson, granddaughter Jennifer, sister-in-law Sharon Arneson.
