Services for Charles “Doug” Flodstrom

Charles “Doug” Flodstrom of McIntosh, MN went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh, MN.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Clark Hjelle officiating. Burial will be held at the Viking Cemetery, Viking, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles Douglas Flodstrom was born on March 26, 1932 at Warren, MN son of Joshua Paul and Lillie (Lindquist) Flodstrom. He was raised in Viking, MN and attended grade school there. He graduated from High school in Newfolden, MN.  He then attended business school in Fargo, ND.

He entered the US Navy in September of 1953 until his honorable discharge in March of 1955. He served in the Navel reserves for 2 additional years.

On September 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Florence Carlson at Moorhead Evangelical Free Church in Moorhead, MN. To this union 5 children were born Julie, Kelly, Lori, Renee, and Charles. The couple lived in various places throughout the Midwest. He worked as a credit and service manager for many car dealerships, selling ABC Seamless Siding receiving the state top salesman award while in Minneapolis, before retiring to Clearbrook, MN. Doug thoroughly enjoyed serving as a substitute mail carrier while in Clearbrook during his retirement years.

Doug enjoyed new and old cars, driving, woodworking, music, playing games (which he always won!).While in high school he was known as the “class clown”, and he never lost his wonderful sense of humor. He was a volunteer in the community and church. He loved spending time with family and friends and always had time to visit. He loved Jesus and he loved people. 

Doug is survived by his wife of 66 years Florence Flodstrom of Clearbrook, MN; children Julie (Allan) Peterson of Bemidji, MN, Kelly (Michelle) Flodstrom of Tucson, AZ, Lori (Ben) Drake of Surrey, ND, Renee (Harry) Hutchens of Clearbrook, MN and Charles “Chuck” (Mayra) Flodstrom of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren Ashley (Tyler) Davidson, Elizabeth (Kyle) Walton, David (Lauren) Flodstrom, Monica Drake, Christine (Kyle) Fandrich, Cheryl Hutchens, Michael Hutchens, Pablo Flodstrom, Carlos Flodstrom; 11 great-grandchildren and two on the way: along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marville (Virgil) Hjelle, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at McIntosh Senior Living for their exceptional care and kindness and love they showed Doug and the entire family while he lived there.
