Catherine Schiele was born on February 14, 1925 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to parents John and Regina Burchard Schiele. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. She grew up near Devils Lake, attended country school and Devils Lake High School. During and following school, she helped on the farm and house while her brothers were in the service during the War years.
She was united in marriage to Wendelin Henry Senger on October 2, 1945. After their marriage, they lived in North Dakota until 1949 when they moved to Olga, Minnesota. Together, with Fred and Jennie Bertsch, they operated the Olga Store and Locker Plant. Cathy and Wendt eventually took over ownership of the store, operating it until its closing. As the store slowed down, Cathy worked as a bookkeeper at the elevator in Gully. In 1972 they moved into Gully where Wendt was the Postmaster and Cathy stayed home and cared for their home and family. Wendelin passed away on February 2, 2004.
Catherine moved to the Summerfield Apartments in Fosston in 2010 and then Prairie Pines Assisted Living. She has been a resident of McIntosh Senior Living since 2016.
She loved visiting over coffee, baking bread and treats for her family and dancing with her husband. She was known by many for her great smile and sweet personality. She had a deep devotion to the Lord and never missed Mass until the later years when she could no longer get there. She loved her husband and family fiercely and pulled out all the stops on Christmas and other holidays to make it a great time for everyone. She and Wendt loved entertaining friends and family and there was always a fun time to be had at their place.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fosston, the Gully American Legion and Trail V.F.W. Auxiliaries.
