Carol Olive (Erie) Tollefson, 94, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Cornerstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bagley, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held on, Monday, December 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Ebro Corner in Bagley, Minnesota with Reverend Gene Lilenthal Officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Our Savior’s Cemetery Ebro Corner in Bagley, MN.
Carol was born December 29, 1923 on the Erie family farm in Rural Gonvick, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Offerdahl) Erie. She was baptized and confirmed at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN. She attended District 37 Country School in Rural Gonvick, and left home in 1941. She moved to the Ebro area in the 1940’s and married Henry Tollefson. They had 3-children- James, Duane, and Mavis. Later they divorced, and she met Walter Pederson and they had 2-daughters- Barbara and Dianne. Carol and Walter were together until his death on September 27, 1990.
Carol has lived in her same home in Ebro since 1945, where up until just recently, when she went to Cornerstone. Carol worked hard at farming her whole life, she also worked odd jobs including selling black dirt and working for John Adams. Carol enjoyed taking care of other people, she was a hard-working woman, you could always find her outside puttsin’ around. She repeatedly put family first and attending her grandchildren’s events gave her immense pride. She enjoyed dancing, collecting flamingos, working in her garden and flower beds where she excelled in marigolds and pansies. Carol joined Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in the 1940’s where she was currently still a member. She was also a member of the Our Savior’s Ladies Aid.

Sister- Janet (Glenn) Osmondson of Anoka, MN
Son-in-law-Wilfred Heinecke of Bagley, MN
Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
17-grandchildren, 37-great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Anna Erie; special companion-Walter Pederson; Son-Duane Tollefson; Daughters-Mavis Heinecke, and Dianne Pederson; sister- Doris Sather; brother-Orvin Erie; son-in-law-Larry Raad; brothers-in-law-Forrest Hanson, Ralph Schwab, Floyd Sather; sister-in-law- Marilyn Erie; great-great grandchildren- Trevor Tollefson and Emily Green.
