Services for Burnett "Bud" Sims

Burnett “Bud” Sims, 80, of Gonvick, MN died on March 4, 2016 at his residence in Gonvick, MN.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN with the Reverend Adam Krog officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Elim Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements. 

Bud was born on January 1, 1936 at Fertile, Minnesota the son of Elmer and Eunice (Copeman) Sims. He attended High School in Crookston and married Norma Bardwell on December 3, 1960 at Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in Minneapolis where Bud worked at Gould National Batteries in St. Paul making car and truck batteries. The couple moved to Clearbrook where he worked at Arctic Cat and then onto Bagley where Bud owned the Amoco Station for 10 years. In 1985, Bud started working for Gene Harwood at Harwood Oil until the early 1990’s when he went to work at Napa until his retirement. They moved to Fergus Falls where they lived for 10 years. Bud helped his daughter Tami with house renovations. Bud and Norma moved back to Clearbrook “God’s country” in 2011, and moved to Gonvick recently. Bud loved to play guitar and sing. He played at many senior Centers around the Bagley and Fosston areas as well in Fergus Falls. Bud was also an avid fisherman, often showing up his son Randy. He was a member of Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook and was also a volunteer Fireman in Clearbrook in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Bud served in the united States Army, serving our country from 1958 - 1960 where he served as a Military Police Officer. Part of Bud’s duties included guarding Nikita Khrushchev when he came to our country and Elvis Presley when Elvis was discharged from military service.
