Audrey was well known to many in the area, and was a very sweet, kind and artistic person.

Audrey was born at Bagley on August 12, 1943 to Armer and Alice (Nordin) Thompson.  She graduated from Bagley High School in 1961.  She was a beautiful woman and sat for a photograph in her senior year that won a National contest and was displayed in New York City.  In 1963, she married John Lee and they had two children Darin in ’62 and Bonnie in ’64.

Her life was a full one, she and John moved the kids out to North Dakota to work in the missile silo’s back in the early ‘60’s.  After that, it was on to Minneapolis where John sold cars and Audrey first started selling her hand-crafted items.  She would make crafts for Christmas décor and sell them door to door.  This started a lifelong passion for art.

The family then headed to Texas, and Arizona and extensively traveled the country as John was a professional wrestler.  They came back to the Bagley area in ’72.  They owned a gas station called “Lil’ Audrey’s Super Service”. John continued to operate equipment for the local 49 and to wrestle and Audrey kept the house going.  In ’78, they started John Lee Auctions and had a real estate company.  At the Auctions, John would always call her the “Lovely Miss Audrey” and say that she was the Brains of the outfit and he was the Babbler!  The name Miss Audrey stuck, and she was called that by many to this day.  By this point, Audrey was producing and selling her art, both photo’s and paintings.  She also produced some arts and crafts shows.   Nature and animals and portraying them through film or paint was the thing that make her light right up.

Her son, Darin and Dory Volcke, joined her in real estate business in the last few years and many happy memories were made, both while working together and the celebration suppers after the closings.

She will be truly missed by many, she was always happy and bright and full of optimism and laughter.
