Arnie was born February 27, 1937 to Olaf and Cora (Sorgaard) of Lengby, Minnesota. He grew up in Lengby and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

On April 29, 1961, Arnie married Gayshon Nivens of Valier, Montana.  Together they made their home in Montana until 1968 when they returned to the Fosston area.

Arnie served his country in the United States Army serving in the last Calvary, mule-pack division, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  He served in Germany, Iceland and the United States.  He worked as a ranch hand in Montana, a blacksmith, a truck driver and small engine mechanic for John Deere in Fosston until his retirement. Arnie especially loved serving in all aspects of his church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby.  He was an avid hunter with family and friends.  One of his greatest pleasures was to turn something on his lathe or create a piece of furniture and gift it to friends and family.  In the winter months, Arnie could be found pushing snow with his model “A” John Deere tractor. He was a talented tinkerer. He could fix anything.

Arnold is survived by his wife Gayshon; children, Shane (Anthonia) Lomen, Jacksonville, Fl, Shelly (Jeff) Pewitt, Baxter, MN and Darren (Tracey) Lomen, Fosston, MN; grandchildren, Adam, Daniel, Rachel, Zachery, Jacob, Aaron, Kristen, Trevor, Connor, Sierra, Cora and special god-child, Jennifer (Dustin) Horner, Sartell, MN and 5 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Matthew, Levi, Adelaide, and Adelyne and sister Marlys Mittlestead of Grand Forks, ND.
