Services for Alice Shelquist

Alice G. Shelquist, age 93 of Minto, ND passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Woodside Village of Valley 4000 in Grand Forks.
 
Alice G. Wilson was born February 26, 1923 in rural Minto, ND the daughter of the late Robert J. and Margaret M. (Pearce) Wilson. She attended schools in Ardoch and graduated from Minto High School. She received her teaching degree from Mayville State Teachers College. Following her education she taught school for a time before World War II. During the war she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. After the war she returned to the Minto area and continued teaching. Alice was united in marriage to Henning Shelquist on August 22, 1948 in Grand Forks. The couple lived part-time in Clearbrook, MN and part-time in the Minto area. She taught school in Clearbrook. In 1959 the couple moved to Minto permanently and Alice did substitute teaching and worked at the Migrant School. She retired from teaching in the mid 1990’s. Henning passed away in 2001 and Alice moved to Woodside Village in 2014.
 
She was a life member of the Knox Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Women. 
 
Alice is survived by her daughters: Barb (Gary) Schultz, Jane (Chris) Misialek and Faye (Don) Schanilec, all of Minto, ND; three grandchildren: Jared (Kyla) Schultz, Minto, ND; Alicia Schultz and her fiancé Jeremy Bergeron, Grand Forks, ND; and Erin Misialek, Minto, ND; and her great grandson, Kaedyn Bergeron. Alice was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Darleen and sisters: Mary, Emma and May. 
 
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Knox Presbyterian Church of Minto, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Minto City Cemetery.
