Services for Alan Hedlund
Alan Hedlund, age 68, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Monday, May 7th, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11th, at the McIntosh Community Center in McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the community center. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honors Team. Alan James Hedlund was born August 25, 1949 in Fosston, MN to parents Philip and Anora Hedlund. He was baptized and confirmed in McIntosh, MN. He graduated from McIntosh High School in 1967.
Alan joined the Air National Guard in Fargo, ND in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1973. Alan married Kathryn Scott in 1969 and had 5 wonderful children. He had a gravel business for a few years, but farming was his passion. He purchased the family farm from his parents and enjoyed farming crops and cattle, chickens and ducks over the years.
Alan married his best friend Sharon LaFontaine Larsen in 1984, who brought 2 wonderful daughters to add to the family. Alan loved all 7 children equally, and felt blessed to watch the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Alan passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2018 with his loving wife and soulmate by his side. Up until his death, Alan was still actively haying, increasing his cattle herd and making improvements to the farm.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Anora Hedlund, his daughter Karen Quam, his granddaughter, Kassandra Hedlund, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Donald and Aldeline LaFontaine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sharon Hedlund; his son Tony (Kim) Hedlund of McIntosh, MN; his daughter, Wendy (Ryan) Eggl of McIntosh, MN; his daughter Sarah (Tony) Roed of Fosston, MN; His dauther Lisa (Eugene) Armey of Mentor, MN; his son Andy (Katie) Hedlund of Fertile, MN; his son Brian Hedlund of McIntosh, MN and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
