Interment will be held following the service at the Samhold Lutheran Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Gonvick American Legion Post #304. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bob was born on August 4, 1948, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, to parents Wendelin and Catherine (Schiele) Senger. When Bob was two years old, the family moved to Minnesota and purchased the Olga Store and locker plant, along with Fred and Jenny Bertsch, located southwest of Gully, Minnesota.
Bob learned to help his dad at a very young age in the locker plant. At age 12, he was driving the pickup to go to pick up the animals. He went to school in Gully until the eighth grade, then finished high school in Fosston, Minnesota. After high school, he attended Vo-tech in Thief River Falls for auto mechanics. He was always able to fix his own cars and had many of them.
In 1968, Bob met Joan Dyrdahl. They kept in touch throughout his service in the military. On April 15th, 1972, they were married and they moved to Atlanta, Georgia. They lived there for three years. Bob worked for Ron and Sonja Steile who owned Ronco Irrigation. Their daughter Amy was born while living in Georgia.
Bob worked construction jobs in many different states. He was a member of the Laborers Union. He then went to carpentry work. He taught his boys, Ryan and Ross, to be carpenters also. He built a beautiful playhouse for his daughter Amy.
Bob loved to deer hunt and go fishing. When the boys were younger, they would stay at the “hunting shack” for a few days with hunters and then they had some great times. He went on a lot of fishing trips with his brothers-in-law, Mike and Frank Dyrdahl. Bob and Joan made many trips to Lake of the Woods with Joan's brother Mike and his wife Sharen.
During the winter, Bob looked forward to going out north to “the shop” to play cards with his friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan, and children, Amy Senger of Bemidji, son Ryan of Gully; two grandchildren, Blake Senger of Bemidji and Sage Senger of Gully; brother, Duane and his wife, Mary Senger of Olivia, Minnesota, sisters, Jeannie and husband, Larry Sorenson of Gonvick, Minnesota, sister, Doreen Brovold of Gully, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Ross, his parents, and brother Larry, and brothers-in-law, Gay Brovold and Gerald Dyrdahl.
