Vivian May Brooks-Solien was born April 20, 1941, the youngest daughter to John and Hazel Brooks in Gonvick, Minnesota. She passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, after a sudden struggle with cancer.
After graduating Gonvick High School in 1959, she attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis with a degree in business accounting. She moved to Denver, Colorado to work for an oil company where she met her first husband, John McCall and raised six children to adulthood. In 2000, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry Solien.
She enjoyed watching her family grow to 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Along with quilting and her garden she loved to travel, recently returning from a bucket-list visit to Africa. She considered her friends to be a treasure and serving others a blessing.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, her brother, John and two sisters, Alice and Jeanette; her children, Rosemary, Terry, John, Shawna, and Charlie. Her son Jim was there to welcome her home.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family met with friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary.
