Obituary for Mary Anderson Wichse

Mary Anderson Wichser died on Saturday, February 19th, of breast cancer in Marina del Rey, California. She was 76.
Mary was born July 21, 1945, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She grew up on a dairy farm near Grygla and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1963.
Mary did not enjoy Minnesota winters, and moved to Los Angeles, California after high school. She had strong opinions and enjoyed debating issues of the day. She also enjoyed doing difficult crosswords such as the New York Times Sunday puzzle and was a fan of the Minnesota Twins, especially during her visits back home to Minnesota.
She married was Allen Wichser They loved the ocean and lived on a sailboat for many years. The couple helped organize an annual Marlin fishing contest off Catalina Island. They were longtime members of the Marina del Rey Yacht Club where Mary served a term as Commodore. Mary also created and tended a flower garden on the Marina grounds.
Mary worked at the University of Minnesota and the UCLA library in California
Mary is survived by her husband Al, her sisters Janice Anderson, Elaine Barclay, Glenda (Gary) Gobelman and Kari Anderson, and her brother Roger (Marion) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents Manley and Thea Anderson and brother Glenn Anderson.
