Obituary for Kenneth Walberg

Kenneth Karroll Walberg, aged 66, died on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Mayo hospital in Rochester, MN after a 4-year battle with kidney cancer and subsequent, related ailments.
He was born in Clearbrook, Minnesota to Karroll and Beverly (Bjerke) Walberg on March 29, 1954 and was the eldest of four boys. After attending his first year of school in Arvilla, North Dakota where his family moved for a short time, he continued and finished his education in Clearbrook, where he graduated in 1972. Throughout his junior and high school years, Kenny enjoyed playing sports, participating in basketball in seventh and eighth grade, wrestling in grades nine through 12 and football from the seventh grade through the 12th grade where he got the nickname “Crazy Legs” because of the way he ran.
A lifelong bachelor, he was an avid sportsman, enjoying deer hunting from the time he got his first deer (at around age 12 with a 44-40), and fishing, especially ice-fishing, though he personally didn’t much care for the taste of fish. Kenny went to work for the Soo Line Railroad, which later became the Canadian Pacific Railroad, in 1972 and continued there until he retired in 2014. He then briefly worked as a mail carrier for the Clearbrook post office, leaving that job upon his diagnosis.
Kenny is survived by parents Karroll and Beverly (Bjerke) Walberg, brothers Steve Walberg, Randy (Tia) Walberg, Stanley (LeAnne) Walberg, nieces Heidi Walberg, Abigail (Ben) Miller, Chrissy Walberg, Ashley Walberg, nephews Daniel Conner, Zachary Walberg, Simon (Kayla) Walberg, Adam Walberg and 7 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Oliver and Esther Walberg and Edwin and Astrid Bjerke.
