Obituary for Joel Mitzner

Joel Glenn Mitzner was born on July 12, 1976 in Marshall, Minnesota. Joel was baptized in the Christian faith at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall and he was confirmed in faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton. Joel graduated from Balaton High School in 1995. He then attended and graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in criminal justice.

Joel married Talia Vettleson on October 17, 1998. To this marriage they were blessed with three girls. Aurora Rose, Ciara Anne, and Isabella Hope.

Joel proudly served on the Oklee Fire Department as well as the local ambulance service for years.

Most of all, Joel enjoyed spending time and playing games with his daughters.

Joel passed away on July 13, 2021 at his home near Brooks, Minnesota.

Joel is survived by his family including his former wife Talia, daughters Aurora, Ciara, and Isabella, his parents Glenn and Sharon Mitzner, brother Jay (Jeni) Mitzner, sister Amanda (Mike) Svir, multiple nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Joel is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Alma Mitzner and his maternal grandparents, Marvin and LaVerne Loeck.

A private family service was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton, Minnesota on July 17, 2021.
