Irene Kiesow, 83 of Goodridge, MN passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.
Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Grygla, MN with Father Adam Hamness presiding. Burial will follow at Jerusalem Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.
Irene Joan Kuznia was born May 22, 1937 in Florian, MN the daughter of Benedict Walter and Mathilda Hattie (Staloch) Kuznia. She was baptized May 30, 1937 and confirmed August 15, 1950 at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian and attended the Florian School, District 44.
On October 14, 1957, Irene was united in marriage to Lawrence Kiesow at Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN. The couple farmed in Moylan Township on the land they cleared and raised their eleven children.
Irene worked at Merv’s Grocery in Stephen, MN from 1956-1957, cooked at the Steak Knife in Grygla, MN from 1976-2005, and worked hard on the farm.
She enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening, crocheting afghans, cooking, baking, following the Twins, Vikings, Bison and Chargers; and most importantly loved time with her family.
Faith was very important to Irene. She was a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Grygla and Ladies Guild where she served as Treasurer and taught Religious Education. She recited the Rosary every day and lived her life guided by her Christian values which she instilled in her children. She also was a proud Godmother to Suzie Van Heel, Renee Miller, Ken Kuznia, Geralyn Loeslie, Floyd Neuschwander, Steve Kiesow, Karen Clark, Dean Kuznia, Diane Devine and Charlotte Cullen.
Survivors include 10 children: Marilyn, Laurie (Gary), Judith (Grant), Mary Jo (Curt), Bruce (Angela), Ronald, Betty Jo (Daren), Lynn (Jerry), Jacki (Lorin) and Kristi (Paul); 27 grandchildren: Michael, Lindsay (Matt), Jesse, Peter (Amy), John (Zaoshi), Timothy (Katie), Rebecca (Scott), Daniel, Nicholas (Jocelyn), Kyle, Molly, Megan, Matthew, Rachael (Eric), Sarah, Abby, Kaylani, Justin, Christopher, Carlye, Jerry, Elena, Isaac, Isabella, Claire, Seth, and David; 15 great grandchildren: Addison, Austin, Warren, Emerson, Thomas, Philip, Riley, Maverick, Ezra, Tobias, Charlie, Dawson, Emma, Harvey, James; brother, Clarence (Pauline); brother-in-law, Charles (LouAnn); sisters-in-law, Theresa, Phyllis, Agnes, Anita, Margaret, Nettie.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence; son, Dean; parents, Benedict & Mathilda; father & mother-in-law, Erick & Mary; sister, Theresa (Bennie); brothers, George (Zefiryna), Alphonse (Eleanor), Floyd, John (Bette), Eugene, Benedict, Ray, Rudy; brothers-in-law, Paul, Floyd, Lawrence, Paul; sister-in-law, Arlyne.
