Obituary for Donovan Bierbaum

Donovan L. Bierbaum, age 76 of Edina passed away December 19, 2021, at M Health Fairview Hospital in Edina. 
Don was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Alice Bierbaum, sister Cindy Malwitz, and brother Sonnie Bierbaum. Don graduated from Clearbrook, Minnesota High School in 1963. From 1963-1964 he was a Merchant Marine and worked on the great lakes. He joined the Army in 1965 and was discharged in 1967. He went to work for Thermo King (Ingersoll Rand) in Bloomington, retiring after 40 years. He was also employed by the City of Edina part-time in the maintenance department at Centennial Lakes Park for the last 20 years. Don was proud of the park and loved the people there. He made a lot of friends including the homeless. Don's interests included hunting, fishing, carving diamond willow walking sticks, cooking for family and friends, and canning. He was a member of Legion Post 0256 for over 50 years and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Edina for 48 years. 
Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Eileen, daughter Jodie (Erik) Agresta, stepson Brian Moore, sisters Nubby (Alton) Pedersen, and Joni (Steve) Hagen, brother-in-law Robert Malwitz, sister-in-law Karen Bierbaum, and many other relatives and friends. 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 5421 France Ave. S., Edina, MN 55410. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Family requires masks be worn at the church.
For those who are not able to go to the service, the family is tentatively planning to have a memorial service in Clearbrook this spring/summer. Reminders will be posted at a later date.
