Joseph “Joe” William Olson,

Joseph “Joe” William Olson, 78, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away on May 21st, 2026, at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab Center in Bagley.

Funeral services for Joe will be Friday, May 29th at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, MN with Pastor Tim Mantei officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM and funeral services at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery in Shevlin. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

Joe was born June 23rd, 1947, in Boise, Idaho, to Odean and Julia Olson. He was institutionalized in Nampa State School in Idaho on November 6th, 1948, with Down Syndrome. Odean and Julia moved to Shevlin, MN in 1950 with Joe’s sisters, Joan and Mary. Joe moved to Minnesota at a later date and entered Brainerd State Hospital in 1961 where he resided until May 2nd, 1975, when he moved into Pine Ridge Residence. He resided at Pine Ridge Residence for 51 years and moved to Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab Center May 11th, 2026. Joe attended the Clearwater DAC starting in April of 1975 and continued until April of 2026.

Joe loved people and told everyone he was “happy”. He also loved his Coca-Cola, cookies, snow, Christmas, Santa and listening to old country music. He liked spending time with his friends at Pine Ridge Residence and Clearwater DAC. He participated in Special Olympics, attended Camp Confidence and liked going on bike rides.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joan Rockensock, and brother-in-law, Dennis Bjorgo.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Bjorgo, Hastings, MN and brother-in-law, Ray Rockensock, Shevlin, MN. Nieces and Nephews: Rick Rockensock (Kriss), Trempealeau, WI; Teresa Mala (Neil), Waco, Texas; Shari Rockensock, Minneapolis, MN; Michelle Spears (Joe), Burnsville, MN; Roy Rockensock, Shevlin, MN; Mary Mertz, Bagley, MN; Todd Bjorgo (Laura), Woodbury, MN; and Kelly Bjorgo, Highland, California.
