John Wendell Larson,

John Wendell Larson, age 66 of Clearbrook, MN, passed away in his home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Please join us to remember and celebrate John’s life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Larson Family Farm. Instead of a formal service, we are gathering together to share our favorite memories, laugh, cry, and enjoy some good food and beverage in our home.

John was born December 13, 1959, in Bagley, MN, the son of John Raymond and Sandra Kay (Nelson) Larson.
He grew up on the farm. Following graduation, he attended Thief River Community College until he took over the farm following his father’s passing. He also worked for Northern Pipeline for a while and then worked for the city of Gonvick. Later, he and his cousin Tony Torgerson started an underground cabling company, TJ Underground, in which Tony currently owns. No matter what else he was doing, farming was always a part of who he was. The farm was more than a place of work—it was a way of life that stayed with him throughout the years.

John was happiest at home. His love of “checking the cows”, “looking for deer”, and most of all “driving around the block”, was known by everyone.
He was not a big communicator but could also give you a hard time and leave you wondering if he was joking. He just expected you to know. Just ask the kids, who were also blessed with this trait!

Family meant everything to John. He loved his children and grandchildren. His heart extended beyond his immediate family, too. Over the years, nieces, nephews, and countless kids came around the farm and John had a way of making them feel welcome. He cared about them and enjoyed having them around.

John will join his father, John Raymond, his step-father, David Knutson, his grandparents, Uncle Verne and his nephew Jason Jallen.

Those he leaves behind are his wife Lori and their children. Jordan (Kayla) of Clearbrook, Jeff of Clearbrook, Brandon (Heidi) of Gully, Jessica (Tim Bellin) of Hanover, and Devin (Brianne) of Clearbrook. Grandchildren: Mykenzie, Jaret, Caden, Daisy, Kysen, Posie, Brynley, Carter, Cohen, Connor, Calahan. His mother Sandra Knutson, his sisters Kim (Dave) Jenkins and Kay (Tony) Sunderland, his in-laws, Ron and Betty Beard, brother-in-law Randy (Lori) Beard, sister-in-law Julie Beard. And, his former wife, Stacey Helland (mother of Jordan, Jeff, and Jessica).

John leaves behind many others close to him – you know who you are! Aunt Phyllis, nephew Steven, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends, and neighbors.

Cancer took John from us far too soon, but it cannot take away the love, memories, and legacy he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
