MARCH PUBLIC HEALTH MADNESS-Get Involved, Get Connected
Social involvement means actively participating in activities, relationships, and groups that connect you with other people and your community.
In simple terms- it’s being part of life with others instead of staying isolated. It is essential for mental, physical and community wellness.
Each week in March, we’ll share ways to get involved and stay connected through events in your community and surrounding areas, along with ideas you can try anytime to build connections.
Here are some things you can do to get connected and involved anytime: If you’re part of a church, check the church activities listing or call your church to see what’s happening in the coming week. Invite 2-3 friends over for coffee. Your house doesn’t have to be perfect, they’ll likely be happy with hot coffee or tea and a nice visit. Join a group with shared interests to create a sense of belonging. Has anyone in your circle of friends been ill, experienced a long hospitalization or just going through a bad time? Get together with a group to sign, address and mail cards. In this electronic world a card that you can hold is sometimes much appreciated. Do you enjoy working with children? Speak to someone at your local school to see if they’re looking for volunteers. How about reading to people who are no longer able to? Check with a local nursing home or assisted living. Getting involved and staying socially connected also means being mindful of screen time and not letting it replace meaningful, in-person interactions with others.
Activities Happening in our community’s March 1st-7th:
March 4th, 2026-HUBBARD COUNTY: Rocket restoration yoga. Classes are held at Cosmic Heart Yoga and Wellness, LLC which is located inside of Bretz Taekwondo and Fitness, 556 Henrietta Ave N., Park Rapids. CLEARWATER COUNTY: Storytime An Early Literacy Experience ages 0-6 old Bagley Public Library
March 7th, 2026 from 11am-2pm-BELTRAMI COUNTY: Winterfest in Kelliher @ the Kelliher Public School-345 4th St NW. Open to the public to celebrate the end of winter and connect with local resources and neighbors. FREE games, music, crafts, prizes and local foods.
