Kristin Robbins is a native of Crookston, Minnesota. Her dad owned what was then called the Stenshoel Funeral home and her mom was a nurse until she and her sister were born – then she was a stay-at-home mom and worked alongside her dad at the funeral home. Like all families with small businesses or farms, everyone had to pitch in. Kristin and her sister helped in the funeral home by answering phones, setting up chairs and flowers, mowing the lawn, and cleaning.

Kristin attended Bethel University in St. Paul on a full scholarship where she doubled-majored in Political Science and Economics. After college, Kristin lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for three years where she saw firsthand the wasteful spending in government. While working on Capitol Hill, she led the bipartisan Porkbusters Coalition, which cut millions of dollars of wasteful spending from the budget. 

Kristin met her husband, Brent, while working in DC. They have been married 32 years and are the proud parents of three adult daughters. They returned home to Minnesota to build their careers and start their family after finishing their graduate work – Kristin has a Masters in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis.

Kristin served as the Executive Director of a group that helped pass education tax credits in Minnesota. The Wall Street Journal called this legislation “a model for the rest of the country.” She also served on the State Commission to End Chronic Homelessness during the Pawlenty Administration.

Kristin and Brent started their family in the western suburbs where they wrestled with the challenges of working and daycare until she decided to be a stay-at-home mom for their three girls for nearly 10 years. The quintessential “soccer mom,” Kristin spent countless hours cheering the girls on in soccer, basketball, softball, gymnastics and trap shooting as well as juggling homework, practices, laundry and meals. She was an active school volunteer, coaching Destination Imagination and teaching Junior Achievement’s economic literacy program. She also taught Sunday School and served on the board of her church’s food shelf, where the whole family volunteered together.

First elected in 2018, Kristin quickly rose through the ranks and now serves as Assistant Leader in the House. She led the charge to repeal the Walz tax hikes and CUT taxes for families and for seniors on Social Security. She’s working to strengthen our schools and protect girls’ sports. She supports our police and voted to end free healthcare for illegal immigrants. And as chair of the Fraud Prevention Committee, she is leading the fight to stop the fraud and hold the Walz administration accountable.

Kristin is also Co-Chair of the bipartisan, bicameral Civility Caucus, which works to build relationships and trust across parties and between the House and Senate so the Legislature can function more effectively on behalf of all Minnesotans.

Serving in the Legislature has been a tremendous honor, but Kristin knows that stopping fraud, protecting our kids, and making Minnesota a place where families and businesses can thrive is going to take a Governor who will lead with vision and optimism and hold state agencies accountable.
