Tractor Trivia

Hope you have a “Christmas to Remember!”

I spend many winter evenings in front of the television set.  Many nights when chores are done and supper is eaten we sit down and turn on the TV.  Lately I have been searching for a Christmas movie. We watched “Elf”, “The Santa Claus”, “Die Hard”, the original “Grinch”. It has been fun.  Nothing grabs my attention more than a show with that includes an old tractor!
As the Christmas season approaches many shows will be coming on that we watch as part of the yearly celebration.  One I haven’t seen on TV for a long time is called “A Christmas to Remember.”  I went to YouTube and I found it.  It was fun to watch again. Two of the stars are Jason Robards and Eva Marie Saint.  The story begins as the school band is playing and an announcer is bragging up what is inside this big tent.  They are unveiling the John Deere 8640!  A farmer jumps  up in the cab to go for a ride and then it goes back to a flashback when he was young, growing up on a dairy farm with is Grandfather(Jason Robards) and Grandmother(Eva Marie Saint).  When he was young he got sent to live with grandma and grandpa, in Minnesota, because his mom and dad in Chicago didn’t have enough money to raise him.  It was set during the Great Depression.  They don’t get off to a great start.   He grandpa gets him up early to milk cows, by hand.  In one scene the grandpa chases the boy around the yard with a steel wheeled GP John Deere.  Now maybe you see how come I like this show.  I will stop with the storyline there, just in case you haven’t seen it and you want to watch a  great show, “A Christmas to Remember!”
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas. We get a weekend with kids and grandkids and hope to go fishing at some point. Then we will be heading to the Milwaukee area to celebrate Christmas with Patty’s family and also celebrate her mother’s 90th birthday.  And by the way, if you have YouTube do a little search, for “A Christmas to Remember,” you just might like it!
