Richard Gottfried Viktora, 81, of Bagley, MN died on Sunday, October 30, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bagley, MN.
Richard was born in Bemidji, MN on January 14, 1944 to Gottfried and Emily (Wacha) Viktora. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Richard attended Bemidji Elementary and High School. On July 2, 1959 Richard was united in marriage to Nancy Galli. They welcomed three sons; Richard “Rick”, Mark, and Wayne.
At a young age, thirteen years old to be exact, Richard gave his first haircut while standing on a peach crate. In 1961 he graduated from the St. Paul Barber School and relocated his family to Dilworth, MN and worked in a Moorhead, MN barber shop. Seven years later he and Nancy moved to Bagley where he opened his own barber shop. Richard loved his customers and had many people travel just to have him cut their hair. He especially enjoyed playing tricks on the kids with his “rubber ear”.
Richard loved hunting season and made it his job to make sure his children and grandchildren enjoyed it too. He spent many summers fishing and camping with family and friends. During his later years Richard enjoyed spending his winters in Texas with Nancy and building bird houses in his garage. He was Rick’s right-hand-man during their many fish frys, taking his “quality control” job very seriously. He loved giving his great grandchildren ranger rides through town and had a laugh that would light up the room. Richard was a kind and genuine man who will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Bagley, MN; his sons, Richard “Rick” (Lee) Viktora of Bagley, MN and Wayne (Veronica) Viktora of Great Falls, MT; his grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Adam, Gabrielle, Quinn; his brother, Robert “Bobby” Viktora of Bemidji, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother, Bernard Viktora, his sister, Patty England and his son, Mark Viktora.
