Lowell Gene Hagen, 86, of Bagley, Minnesota died peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side, on December 11, 2021 at his residence in Bagley, Minnesota.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bagley City Cemetery. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Lowell was born on August 17, 1935 at Clover Township, Clearwater County the son of Myron and Lavina (Larson) Hagen. Lowell attended Country School and High School in Clearbrook. Lowell enlisted in the Unites Stated Navy at the age of 17, in November of 1952 and retired from the Navy in 1972 after 20 years of service. He served during both Vietnam and the Korean war.
Lowell married Inez “Betty” Pugh on March 26, 1957 at Gonvick, together they had 3 children – Terry, Cheri and Mary. After his retirement, they moved to Trail and he attended the Vo-Tech in Thief River Falls, getting a degree for both carpentry and welding. The family moved to Bemidji where he worked for K-Mart for a few years and then they managed the Northwoods Manor Apartments for 11 years. Lowell also worked part time at the Bemidji Woolen Mills where his wife worked. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the DAV. His enjoyed fishing, hunting and teasing his family. He was greatly loved by his children, grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife – Inez “Betty” Hagen of Bagley, MN
Son - Terry (Sandra) Hagen of Bemidji, MN
Daughter – Cheri (Kert) Yennie of Bemidji, MN
Daughter – Mary (Wayne) Davis of Bemidji, MN
Brother – David (Janis) Hagen of Sutherland, Oregon
Brother - Gordy (Kathy) Hagen of Clearbrook, MN
11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings – Carole, Jerry, Ken, Richard, Sherman and Jean; 1 granddaughter – Amanda; and his cat - Cat, which he loved very much.
