Services for Terry Scott Halvorson

Terry Scott Halvorson, 55, of Gonvick, MN, lost his courageous battle to colon cancer Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Samhold Lutheran Cemetery in Gonvick, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley, MN assisted the family with arrangements.
Terry was born December 22, 1965 at the hospital in Fosston, MN, to parents Elmer and Mavis (Walberg) Halvorson Marcus. He was baptized and confirmed at the Gully Lutheran Church. From Kindergarten through the 5th grade he was enrolled at the Gully School, then continued at Fosston School until he graduated in 1984. He travelled to work in Tennessee for Ronco Irrigation. Terry later moved back to Minnesota and went on to attend Staples Technical Institute and completed the food preparation program in May of 1985. He then chose his career in construction and went to work for Northern Pipeline and Michels Pipeline, where he worked and became a foreman until recently becoming ill.
Terry had his first son, Brandon, in 1986, followed by his daughter Brittany in 1987. On May 10, 1997 he married the love of his life, Stacy Sorenson in St. Cloud. They made their home near Gully and later had their son Cody in 1997. Terry enjoyed his time outdoors, where he would walk for miles looking for deer sheds. He also took a lot of pride in hunting, and the walls at his home place prove it with the display of all his deer mounts. Terry often was the cook of the family, especially when they were grilling or making fish. He also was the one in charge of the garden, even though Stacy would try to take the credit by bragging about how great it was. Terry was seen doing a wide variety of different things, but it wasn’t often that he would be seen without his childhood best friend Bob Wagner. The two of them were not brothers by blood but forced their way into it by marrying sisters. Terry loved being at home with his wife and his family, four-wheeling, cruising around in the jeep, and taking care of their home together. He was also very dedicated to his work where he made a lot of friends that became his second family.
He is survived by his wife, Stacy Halvorson of 24 years; his children, Brandon (Erin) Halvorson of Erskine, Brittany Halvorson of Fosston, and Cody Halvorson of Gully; his grandchildren Alexa, Kyleigh, Tayla, Amari, Ambree, Kohen, Maddox and Kolt; his mother, Mavis Halvorson (Calvin) Marcus of Prinsburg; his brother, Bradley Halvorson of Bemidji; his sister, Ranae (Mitch) Vakoch of Gully; his father-in-law, Larry (Jeanie) Sorenson; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Julie) Wagner, Terry (Roxanne) Sorenson, Cory (Debbie) Moy, Jeremy (Connie) Moy; his niece, Sydney of Gully, and other numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Halvorson; his grandparents, Bennie and Elise Halvorson, and Oliver and Esther Walberg; his mother and father-in-law, Maxine Sorenson and Ted Hamm; and his nephew, Jason Sorenson.
Terry made an impact on everyone who knew him. His memory will live on forever.
