Services for Joan Levno

Joan Levno, 85, of Clearbrook, Minnesota, beloved wife and best friend of Glenn Levno, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at her home with family supporting her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Clearbrook, Minnesota with Rev. Randy Reimer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

Joan Elisabeth was born to Jacob J.  and Agatha (Franz) Toews on February 23, 1936 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. She grew up the youngest of six children. At the age of seven she accepted God’s gift of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. Her desire to follow Jesus showed throughout her life. She attended and graduated Mountain Lake High School in 1954. After graduating from High School, she attended St. Paul Bible College earning a Christian Worker Certificate. While at college, Joan met Glenn Levno. They were married on August 21, 1956. Their union was blessed with three loving daughters, Valerie Levno of Ashland, WI , Patricia Galloway and Kristine (Brian) Emmel, both of Clearbrook, MN. Over her lifetime, Joan’s focus was as a loving homemaker. She also worked in various jobs including bookkeeper, typesetter, retail store clerk, and church secretary. She enjoyed blessing others with her creative talents of piano and singing, many crafts including sewing and knitting, hospitality, and traveling.

Joan had a great love of God, family, and community. She enjoyed sharing her musical talents, taught Sunday School, lead Stoncroft Bible Studies and served on boards in the local evangelical churches where she and Glenn lived. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clearbrook and Gideon’s Auxiliary. She and Glenn were snowbirds for 19 years, making Superstition Sunrise RV Park in Arizona their winter home and actively attending the Super-Sun Chapel there.

Besides her three daughters Valerie Levno, Patricia Galloway and Kristine (Brian) Emmel, eight grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren with one on the way, Joan is survived by her sister, Marie Odens of New Hope, MN; her sisters-in-law, Gladys Toews of Waseca, MN and Eileen Taves of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Levno; her parents, Jacob and Agatha (Franz) Toews; three brothers, Marvin Taves, Jake Toews, and Bill Taves; her sister, Luella Carlblom; and her sons-in-law, Eric Lamont and Jim Galloway.
