Services for Loren Carl Nelson
Loren Carl Nelson, 86, of Clearbrook, MN, peacefully passed away on the morning of Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Sanford Bagley Medical Center.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley. Loren’s funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Clearbrook. The interment will be at Friendship Cemetery in Leon Township.
Loren was born on February 15,1935 near Clearbrook, MN on the family farm. He attended Greenwood Township School and the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. Loren was always a hard worker. He purchased a farm next to his parent's property and raised crops and farm animals. Besides farming, he also worked at and retired from Lakehead Pipeline (Enbridge) after almost 30 years.
On July 21,1956, he married the love of his life and best friend, Deloris (Johnson). Throughout their many wonderful years together, Loren was devoted to his bride. In addition to being a loving husband, he was also a proud father. Family was a huge part of his life, as Loren and Deloris had five children.
Aside from working, farming, and his family, Loren was involved in his community. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Clearbrook and faithfully served the Lord there in many different capacities. He was also a Minnesota DNR Fire Warden, served on the Farm Bureau Board, was the sexton of Friendship Cemetery, and served on the Board of Directors and volunteered many hours with the Lake Itasca Region Pioneer Farmers organization.
Loren had a variety of hobbies including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling with friends, restoring antique tractors, and taking his wife to area gospel music nights. Gardening vegetables, raspberries, and flowers was another favorite of his. Loren also greatly enjoyed watching wildlife such as birds, bears, and deer.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deloris; his five children, Richard (Sandi) Nelson of Clearbrook, Tami (Orin) Kalhagen of Forest Lake, Gerald (Terri) Nelson of Clearbrook, Dwight Nelson of Solway, Trudi (Gary) Kelm of Bemidji; his 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Anna (KenKnight) Nelson; his brothers William (Billy), David, Paul, and sister Carol Nelson.
Loren was a very kind man with a warm personality and great character. He would do anything and everything for those he cared about. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Memorials will be divided between the Lake Itasca Region Pioneer Farmers organization and Friendship Cemetery.
