In September some of the MN Surpreme Court Judges came to Plummer to tour the Tri River Pioneers museum. 
Red Lake County Central Elementary School offered a warm welcome to Carolyn Rystad of Oklee this 2018-19 school year. Rystad is a preschool para who watches, plays with, and helps preschool children adjust to being in a school setting.
Gin Berns will be a Paraprofessional In the kindergarten room and where help is needed. She lives in Oklee and has been living there since 1990.
RLCC High School hired a new bus driver, Jim Lessard. Lessard is a graduate of Oklee High School Class of 1972.
RLCC Elementary has a new paraprofessional, Becky Malwitz. She grew up in Brooks, MN but is now settled in Plummer, MN where she had graduated from Pershing High School.
The new industrial tech teacher at RLCC High School is Aaron Moll. Moll graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in Engineering Technology and he will be teaching woods, welding, small engines, and construction classes.
Brooks Community Federal Credit Union is now part of North Star Credit Union. An Appreciation Dinner will be held on October 11th.
The weather has been cool and rainy. The leaves have been falling fast.

Red Lake County Central Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) families toured the Plummer Fire Hall on Thursday, October 4th. The firemen showed the kids lots of different things like blowing the siren and spraying the water hose, how the Jaws of Life works, and also what a fireman looks like all dressed up in all the fire gear.
The Red Lake County Central Mustangs defeated the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears on Parents’ Night in Oklee on Thursday, October 4, 2018. The score for all three matches was 25-23.

This has been a strange week. It seems like it is impossible to decide what the temperature is going to be and what clothes you should wear. I dislike thinking we are having winter weather in October. Today wasn’t too bad but, tomorrow sounds changeable.
Immanuel Lutheran Church had their fall turkey supper at the Plummer Hall Saturday evening, September 29th.
October 17: Huot Hustlers Service Project was cleaning ditches on Highway 32.
The third annual Festival of Tables fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will be held on Saturday, October 27th at noon at the Brooks Community Hall.
Due to untimely snow, colder temperatures and saturated soil, Red Lake County Central High School’s annual Day of Caring event will be postponed one week.
Dynamic Duo Day: Clowie Magnell and Arielle Rude dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2, and Rickey Hackett and Andrew Senum dressed up as Puff the Magic Dragon and the chicken.
RLCC High School teachers dressed up as Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs and the Huntsman for Dynamic Duo day for homecoming were: Jessie Hamrum, Bobbi Aahkus, Kathryn Tran, Kory Baril, Randy Huie, Jeri McDonald, Sue Lee, Mike Illies and para Stephanie Holland.
For RLCC Homecoming dress-up day three teachers dressed in the Shark theme: Mr. Steven Strutz, Mrs. Tiffany Tvedt, and Mrs. Patty Mickelson.
It is mostly overcast and temperature 34 degrees. This is October, we are supposed to be having nice warm temperatures. The snow has mostly melted after last week’s storms.
October 24: Commissioner Remick and Weiss had met with County Attorney Mike LaCoursiere. LaCoursiere feels that there is enough work for him to be a full-time employee for the county and after the conversation, Weiss and Remick also agreed. A motion to rescind the motion made on January 30, 2018 and put the County Attorney position back to 100%.
Luke Swenson came across the 1935 cab south of Oklee. He said he has seen it for years in the wood and thought it was just an old car body, until one day he decided to stop and check it out. At that time, Luke saw it was a truck cab with the name “Ingvald Olson”. He called Dave Olson , to ask if he knew the person’s name on the truck. Dave says, “that’s my Grandpa”! Dave, in turn, notified his father, George. How exciting to find “Old Ingvald” again!
Jessie Hamrum was asked to speak at the Red Lake County Central High School Minnesota Honors Society ceremony on October 12th.
The RLCC Minnesota Honor Society new inductees were Emily Kolstoe, Sidney Olson, and Janae Olson. (Back): Kia Bachand, Daniel Guillemette, Derek Peterson, and Karena Melby.
RLCC High School recently recognized two students who were selected as the Students of the Month for September. They were Daphney Koralewski and Zachery Cater.
This past week was a busy week for many farmers, because they finally got a break in the rainy weather. Wind and warmer weather finally dried the beans and corn enough to harvest and the combines were busy all over the area trying to clean up what needed to be harvested.
A Happy Birthday to Inga Linder, who became 104 on Sunday, October 21st. She is Plummer’s treasure.
October 31: Lori Melby celebrates 40 years at Security State Bank & Agency. 
Red Lake County Central was one of almost 280 schools throughout Minnesota that participated in a high school mock election. The election is held to teach young students the power and importance of voting, while also teaching them to do research before making their decision.
The staff and students of RLCC went into the communities of Oklee, Plummer, and Brooks on October 24th for their annual Day of Caring event  and helped individuals and the community with a fall cleanup. The cleanup involved raking, washing windows, picking up garbage, cleaning flower beds, moving branches, tied quilts for Project Linus, and other jobs to clean up the communities.
We were graced with some sunshine this past week, and some farmers were fortunate enough to get the rest of their crops taken off. But some farmers in the valley, the beets are still being taken in as best they can from their muddy fields. Over the weekend there were significant rains and in some spots the beets had to wait for the fields to dry up some more. It has been a rough fall for harvesting.
