RLC 3rd Grade Basketball Team finishes an excellent season as EGF Tournament CHAMPIONS!

The Red Lake County Rebels began the 2018-2019 3rd grade basketball season last November. The 3rd grade Rebels practiced 1-2 times each week in November and December. The 3rd grade teams was fortunate enough to be added to the 4th grade division in the Snowflake League. The 3rd graders played three Saturdays in January in Fosston, Oklee, and Red Lake Falls. The 3rd grade Rebels learned a lot and showed tremendous improvement throughout the month of playing in the Snowflake League!
In February and March the 3rd grade Rebel Basketball Team played in four tournaments, one halftime game, and one scrimmage. The Rebels hosted the Fosston 3rd grade team in a halftime game during the RLC vs. Fosston V/JV game on Tuesday, February 5th. The young Rebels and Greyhounds played at halftime of both the JV and Varsity games, were a part of the locker room team talks, and stood with their team for the National Anthem and starting line-up announcements. The Rebels also participated in the Win-E-Mac Scrimmage on Saturday, March 2. The Rebels played 30 minute scrimmages against Fertile-Beltrami, Win-E-Mac, and Fosston. The RLC Rebels earned 3rd place at the NCE-UH Titan Tournament held on Saturday, February 2nd. While at the Titan tournament the Rebels defeated Perham, lost to Pelican Rapids, and then defeated Underwood. On February 16th, the Rebels participated in the Sacred Heart Tournament. RLC defeated the Grand Forks Nets, lost to East Grand Forks, and then defeated Crookston to earn 3rd place honors. The Rebels played in the Thief River Falls Tournament on Friday, February 22nd. The Rebels lost to TRF, defeated Leech Lake, and lost to Thompson to get 4th place. In the final tournament of the season, the RLC Rebels played in the East Grand Forks Basketball Tournament. The Rebels had three exciting games! On Friday, March 8th, RLC started the tournament off by defeating East Grand Forks 20-14. Then, the Rebels defeated Thompson 22-17 to earn the #1 seed in their pool. The Rebels returned to EGF on Saturday, March 9th, to play the Grand Forks Starz in the Championship game! This was another exciting game where both teams played well, gave 100% effort, and played together as a team. The RLC Rebels came out on top with a score of 29-21! CHAMPIONS in their final tournament of the season!
Great job to the RLC 3rd Grade Basketball Team throughout the entire season! The boys learned important basketball fundamentals, how to play together as a team, represented RLC very well, worked hard, had great attitudes, and improved each day! Members of the Red Lake County 3rd Grade Basketball Team were: Bronco Bergeson, Alex Bramer, Ben Gullingsrud, Peyton Jensen, Parker Klasen, Dylan Lundeen, Owen O’Neill, and Mason Williams. The team was coached by Jason Jensen and Nikki Gullingsrud.
