RLCC Students Attend the MN Assoc. Student Council Convention

Sara Niles spoke to the students about “Unmasking Leadership” which was the theme of this year’s convention

Red Lake County Central Student Senate sent four students to the Minnesota Association Student Council Convention held at Becker High School on April 11-13. Those who attended from RLCC were Mickala Morinville, Brittney Bray, Taylor Bushelle, and Ashley Longtin, and their Student Council advisor Mr. Randy Huie.
The students were able to meet candidates that were running for the 2015-16 MASC board. Morinville, Bushelle, and Longtin were the three voting representatives from RLCC and were later able to vote for next year’s MASC board. There were round table discussions where students could pick topics to discuss with students from other schools. Saturday included activities for the students before they were taken back to the hotel by busses provided by the Becker High School.
Sara Niles spoke to the students about “Unmasking Leadership” which was the theme of this year’s convention. First she gave the students a personality quiz to show them what they were and how everyone was different. She spoke to the students about personality and the how to work with people who have different personalities.
Houston Craft was the other speaker at the convention who spoke to the students about “love”. He spoke of the Greeks and the three different types of love the Greeks had. The love he talked about the most was “agape” which is a selfless kind of love was.
The students returned home Monday, April 13 with new ideas on topics such as spirit, pep activities, and other things which they were able to get advice on to bring back to their school. All the students discussed issues they have had and listened to issues other Student Council members have faced. Throughout this convention, the students had learned many new things to bring back to their own school and Student Council group.
