The second semester 9th grade Physical Education class at Win-E-Mac School recently participated in the IHT (Interactive Health Technologies / Adidas Spirit Challenge.
The Challenge was a result of proposed federal legislation to include physical education as a core subject for the first time in history. So, IHT, adidas, SHAPE America, HealthCorps and the American Heart Association together challanged students and schools nationwide for recognition and prizes.
For a 30 day period the class wore heart rate monitors. The monitors kept track of how many minutes each student maintained a moderate to elevated heart rate during their Physical Education class.
Over 15,000 students throughout the nation competed. As a class Win-E-Mac finished in 6th place for Usage and 2nd place for overall percentage of time spent in the “Zone”.
Prizes were awarded to the Top 10 in each gender class. Win-E-Mac placed 7th overall out of the Top 20 in the Nation!!
