Glen Harvey Brua was born on June 19, 1938, in Erskine, Minnesota to parents Ole and Amanda (Nordskog) Brua. He grew up in the Erskine/McIntosh area and attended rural school. At the age of 16, he moved to Chester, Montana where he worked as a ranch hand.

After a few years, he returned to McIntosh and began a career working with iron. He was united in marriage to Joanne Salvhus on September 14, 1963. To this union, six children were born, Tammy, Timothy, Todd, Tiffany, Travis and Tricia. After 44 years of marriage, he lost his loving wife, Joanne, on May 19, 2007.

After he was laid off from iron working, Glen started hobby farming, milking and raising livestock. He returned to iron work for a short time prior to his eventual retirement. Glen worked on many projects throughout mostly North Dakota, including grain elevators, missile silos, hospitals and large commercial buildings.

He was a member of Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Church in McIntosh. He liked to run the four-wheeler, mow the yard, horses (when he was younger), and tinkering in the shop. He could build or fix just about anything. When he farmed, he loved his cows and took very good care of all his livestock.
