Nell Program on Archeological Recreation of a Viking Age grave

Nell Program on Archeological Recreation of a Viking Age grave with Steph Anderson.

Step back more than a thousand years as Stephenie Anderson explores the archaeological recreation of a Viking Age grave, revealing the people, culture and craftsmanship behind this remarkable discovery.

Stephenie Anderson is a creative fiber and textile artist with a strong background in knitting, embroidery, quilting, and hand sewing of Viking Age textiles. A frequent exhibitor, teacher, and knitting pattern writer, she was awarded an Artist in Residence at the Vesterheim in 2025 where she studied pockets in the Vesterheim Collection.

Steph has also been awarded a Viking Connection Grant and studied in Norway where she recreated historically accurate Viking Age garments based on archaeological findings. All of Steph’s textile work is based on heritage, history, and keeping traditions alive.

This NELL program will be held at the McIntosh Community Center on September 23. Program begins at 9:30, doors open at 9am with refreshments available.

NELL programs are free of charge and open to all ages.
